- FLF Success Stories: Maria -
Maria first came to Flight Leader Farm when she was 15 years old. On her very first trip she had the opportunity to compete in the AERC National Championships pre-ride in Red Rock Nevada, where she and Lonestar PJ finished 2nd out of 82 riders. On this first trip in the summer of 2003, Maria also had a chance to crew for Hal Hall and our mare FLF TOF Corona, who finished the Tevis Cup in 23rd place that year.
Maria soon became a like a part of the Flight Leader Farm Family, in 2004 Maria completed her first one day 100 mile ride finishing 3rd on Dameon PJ. 2005 would be a benchmark for Maria, she started 5 rides that season and had 3 wins and 2 Best Condition awards and finished 6th place at the 20 Mule Team 100 in California. By the fall of 2006 Maria had won her first US 100 mile event riding FLF Ruleta PJ.
Maria was successfully traveling between Sweden and Texas and keeping horses in both locations fit and competitive. In 2007 at the Git-R-Done FEI-100 CEI *** Maria won the FEI Young Riders divisions and BC, finishing 2nd in the Open Division.
Maria's accomplishments also include finishing the Young Riders World Championships held in Bahrain in 2005 and winning the Swedish Triple Crown.
